Did you know I do custom cross-stitches? Cause I do!
So if you want your own snarky phrase emblazoned in cross-stitch, I’m your girl.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
You email me at purplehippostitches at gmail.com. There’s a few basic pieces of information that I want from you.
- The phrase you want stitched
- A basic idea of how you envision it or more detail if you have it.
For example…country style, Victorian, bold and matter-of-fact, color scheme
- Size range: Pricing varies by size as outlined below.
- A story. Besides just hearing amusing stories behind cross-stitch pieces, the story can help me A LOT. Many people request stitches as gifts that involve inside jokes. I don’t need to get the joke but it helps to know where the fuck you are coming from, when designing the rest of the piece.
Then, I’ll email you back. Occasionally, I can’t accept a custom request because I’m swamped with work or someone will request something very traditional that doesn’t really mesh with what I do.
Otherwise, I’ll get to work designing a piece for you. First, I make a pattern. You will have complete approval over the pattern and approximate colors before I ever start stitching. And you won’t pay for anything until you approve the pattern. Unfortunately, you will have to fork over some cash before I actually make it and send it to you.
HOW MUCH DOES THIS COST?
Pieces are priced by size and complexity with a pattern design fee of $5-10. The pattern design fee is for the time taken to create a custom pattern that cannot be used again.
4×6 inch: $30-40
5×7 inch: $40-70
8×10 inch: $75-200
These prices include the design fee, a frame, and basic mounting for larger designs.
Special prices and consideration can be made for pieces without a frame. Shipping custom pieces without a frame is especially recommended for overseas orders since shipping can quickly escalate above the framing price.
Shipping within the USA ranges from $6-12. Packages are shipped by USPS Priority Mail. Expedited shipping and insurance upon request.
AM I GOING TO LIKE IT?
I should hope so. And considering you get full say over the final design, I should definitely hope so. Due to the nature of custom work, I cannot offer refunds except in truly exceptional circumstances. However, I will do everything I can to make sure you absolutely love your piece. I have designed many for family and friends but have also designed for complete strangers. For examples of custom work, just click on the Gallery link above and flip through the Custom category. These were all created by request, though some have become popular pieces in my shop since then.
